It is one of the most disregarded points of Messi’s career that he doesn’t get much praise for overturning this record. Although he hasn’t won the Champions League between these years but clinching the record of scoring the most league goals that too for 3 successive seasons is a massive achievement. In that time frame, Messi has made 107 League Goals to Ronaldo’s 72 League Goals.

Conclusion

The race for European Golden Shoe started in 2008 when Ronaldo earned his first-ever Golden Boot in Manchester United. Messi’s long rival has won The Accolade on four occasions 2008, 2011, 2014 and 2015. Messi won three times in 2010,2012,2013 before settling a tremendous record of 3 consecutive golden shoe. Messi-Ronaldo rivalry is the longest-ever rivalry in football history where both have made unbelievable records. However, this comeback of the Argentine Footballer must be appreciated which he accomplished in the latter stages of his career.

Comments

  1. If he had won UCL in 18/19 season. That could be the ideal one. One of the best Messi we saw that season. 51 Goals and 12 in UCL. But credit to Liverpool that turned 3 goal lead 👏👏
